On April 1, we opened NYC Mosaic: Corner x Corner, first curation by Gallery Particulier’s co-director, Justin Freeman. The evening was exceptional, filled with warmth and beauty, not just from the vibrant art on the walls but also from the people who gathered to share the experience.
The concept of the show speaks to the richness of New York City—how every corner overflows with art, soul, and heart. On opening night, this idea truly came to life through the energy in the room. Our visitors, representing roots from all over the globe, engaged deeply with the art, reflecting the diverse and dynamic spirit of the city itself.
One of the most remarkable aspects of the evening was the human connection fostered between artists and guests. Our artists not only shared their works but also their stories, creating a bridge between their creative process and the audience. This openness and willingness to engage made the art more accessible and meaningful. The human factor—this bond between visitor, artist, and artwork—proved that art can be a powerful tool for building community.
- Ronen Gamil captivated visitors with works that explore cultural memory and the layered experiences of diaspora.
- Grace Nkem showcased her powerful reflections on social alienation and globalism, inviting thoughtful conversations about identity and history.
- Amir Bey brought a rich mix of symbolism and storytelling to the space, drawing on ancient traditions and contemporary realities.
- Rodney Ewing presented works that critically examine race, identity, and the human condition, leaving a profound impact on many who attended.
We were grateful to have our Gallery Manager, Quiana Dumas, and our producer and consultant, Alma Hutter, join us, contributing to the evening’s welcoming and convivial atmosphere. Together, we celebrated not just art but a sense of togetherness at a time when solidarity is more vital than ever. Thanks to board members Diana Gerber and Lulu de Miranda for brining their support to the evening.
Our artists, who have embraced Gallery Particulier’s mission, are truly special. They are committed not only to their creative practices but to building connections within the broader community. Their generosity of spirit and willingness to interact with visitors throughout the evening were as inspiring as their works.
At a time when many feel under attack, this gathering reminds us of the importance of human connection and creativity. We came away with a renewed sense of community, thanks to the artists and visitors who made the evening deeply resonating.
Thank you to everyone who joined us. We look forward to continuing to bring art and people together, one corner at a time.
