Gallery Particulier: art works exhibited in the privacy of someone’s home.

Gallery Particulier exhibits art directly in people’s homes, bypassing the museum and gallery system.

The mission of Gallery Particulier is to sidestep the art institutional system of museum and galleries and connect directly artists and people. Gallery Particulier aims both at supporting artists and at enriching people’s lives with art without them needing to attend a museum or a gallery. The art is exhibited directly in people’s homes, enhancing their enjoyment of their surroundings: everyone can be a gallerist. They enjoy a connection to an artist whose work has meaning for them, whether it relates to their own experience and identity, or brings in a different horizon. According to a study by the UN, art in the home enhances social cohesion and identity, and benefits children and teenagers, particularly in their studies.

Future

The Gallery will be establishing connections with other organizations and institutions such as libraries, to scale up its paradigm. Attendance of museums and galleries is in decline, particularly in certain underserved communities. Because the art world services such a small proportion of artists and people, the Gallery aims at looking for, and implementing, additional ways to connect art works and people directly, bypassing the system in place.
