A Haitian American artist based in Prospect Lefferts Garden, Samara’s work captivates with its emotional depth and vibrant colors, showcasing a profound appreciation for the beauty of humanity. Samara Chalumeau is a young black artist emerging who paints people and self portraits using expressionistic style in her figurative work“Through each brush stroke and every swirl of pen, I aim to leave a lasting memory of the intensity of the human experience,” says Samara. “My art is my way of honoring my heritage, celebrating life, and sharing with the world the love and passion that I carry within me.”

As a daughter of Haitian immigrants, Samara understands the challenges faced by those whose artistic potential is often overlooked. Her journey as an artist has been one of perseverance and determination, fueled by her innate passion for the arts.
