At a recent block party in Prospect Lefferts Gardens, we set up a table to bring awareness to our nonprofit gallery. It was a wonderful opportunity to introduce our mission to the community, and visitors had the chance to take home artworks to host for free for five months, establishing a unique connection between the artist and their new temporary home.
Gallery manager Quiana Dumas was on hand to engage with attendees, sharing our gallery’s mission with her signature warmth and grace. She connected with people of all ages, providing insights into the importance of art in community spaces and encouraging deeper engagement with local artists.
One of the highlights of the day was seeing the enthusiasm of children as they selected the artworks that spoke to them. Their open minds and precise choices reminded us of the joy of sharing our artists’ work with fresh eyes. It was deeply rewarding to witness these connections forming between New York City artists and the families that will now host their creations.
We thank the wonderful people on “Maple 2” for including Gallery Particulier in their famous block party, and in particular Carol Shuchman, the magician behind the party which was just as fun, friendly and vibrant as ever.
