Artist Bio
Rodney Ewing is a New York City-based visual artist whose work explores memory, history, and the Black experience in America. Through drawing, printmaking, and installation, he constructs layered narratives that examine trauma, resilience, and identity. Deeply invested in the relationship between personal and collective memory, Ewing’s work grapples with the ways historical events shape contemporary realities, particularly for Black communities. His practice is a meditation on place, belonging, and the enduring impact of systemic injustice, offering visual storytelling that is both deeply personal and universally resonant.
Ewing’s work has been exhibited in renowned institutions, including the de Young Museum, Museum of the African Diaspora, and the San Francisco Art Commission Gallery, among others. His pieces are also held in private collections, a testament to their lasting emotional and intellectual impact. By reclaiming and reinterpreting historical narratives, Ewing not only preserves Black stories but recontextualizes them in the present, challenging viewers to engage with history as a living, evolving force.
