A. Shawn McKinney talks about how his work is inspired by Black history, and how he hopes it affects people. Born in the Bahamas, he is a Brooklyn-based artist who is primarily self-taught. He produces large oil paints which pack a lot of power. At the same time, a closer look reveals an intricate delicacy in the details.
