Walker\, opening May 1. \nThrough powerful figurative works created on cardboard often associated with masculinity and labor\, Walker tenderly portrays Black fathers with their children — moments of care\, protection\, play\, and just simple presence. The most important aspect of being a parent is showing up\, day after day. \nThe art is both visually striking\, thanks to Walker’s exceptional skills\, his great sense of color and composition\, and emotionally moving. \nThese works challenge stereotypes\, and center Black fatherhood as it is lived: present\, loving\, complex\, and strong. \nWe are delighted that music collective Umami1000 will be performing at the opening. \nThis Philadelphia-based collective brings together the soulful\, introspective sounds of Alikho Igama and MANN\, blending hip-hop\, jazz\, and soul. \n\nAlikho Igama is a rapper-producer from Philadelphia who puts worldly sermons to soulful sample-based beats & loops. He offers his own brand of introspection\, drawing anecdotes from his personal life and putting them in the context of the changing world around him. Alikho has been active in the underground since 2019. \nIg: @404.4444” \n\n\n\n\nMANN Writer\, Producer & Dj based in Philadelphia\, Pa.\, MANN\, is an artist of different hues. Primarily hip-hop driven\, while also heavily influenced by Jazz\, Soul & RnB instrumentation\, his music showcases faith\, hope\, and his undying spirit. He tends to draw inspiration for his work from personal experience along with life itself; not only offering a detailed perspective on himself\, but also the world at large. Often referencing earthly and esoteric knowledge in his lyrics\, he alludes to a higher power and strives to encapsulate the heart and mind of the universe by way of his journey through it.
